How to compare label quotes: align the specification first

To compare label quotes you first have to align size, material, number of designs, quantity per design and delivery terms. The same total label count can still need a different production arrangement for several designs than for a single design.

Break the quantities down by design

List the size, quantity and version of each design, not only the total; state whether it is delivered in one go, whether replenishment comes in batches, and whether the artwork is final.

List clearly what the quote covers

Confirm separately whether design changes, sampling, plates or tooling, printing, finishing, packing and freight are included. Whether there are separate charges follows the actual quotation items.

Which point the lead time starts from

State the date on which you need the goods, then confirm artwork finalisation, sample approval, material preparation and the production schedule. Record any revised lead time again, so the enquiry date is not mistaken for the start of production.
